After a flurry of singles, Crazy’s (Edwin Ayoung) 2009 CD—Crazylicious—is officially here at long last. I thought it would have taken an eternity for this crazy man of calypso to release this long awaited disc. And what a delightful album it is, using several talents music and engineering. Credits flow like water. As usual, this album gets full marks because of its presentation...top class. And don’t ask about the music and songs? They’re top class too. Take a bow Crazy.
The “loveable lunatic” has an album all soca/calypso lovers could be proud of. I like the title of the CD and only a man like Crazy could add to T&T’s local dictionary, the word “Crazylicious.” Being a party animal, it is no surprise that Crazy’s album is a blend of party, pan songs and social and political commentary. Some party songs include Tonite Get up and Party, Jump up Party, Let’s Have A Party and Bruising.
Crazy is at his mischievous best with, It Hard and his melodious best with the Ray Holman’s composition, Rocketman. Incidentally, Rocketman is my favourite on the CD, as well as the prophetic In Time to come (bonus track). The famous Beatles’ Ob-La-Di is given the Crazy touch, backed by The Soca Rebels of Sweden. This 15-track CD is boss! It available at all record shops. I predict in time to come, this CD will be a classic.
